Okay. SO the promo for the Christmas special, just now saw it. I am going to lose my mind. We have already seen an alternate reality episode before…although I guess this is just taking it one step farther than that? I don’t know, I’m not sure how to feel. I am still excited even if I feel it’s going to get a little much if we keep having all these different alternate universes. Leave stuff in my ask.
Repeat after me. Ahem:
Daphne is not a special snowflake.
Daphne’s value as a person is not worth more than Bay’s.
Bay deserves happiness and to not take the fall for a girl who wouldn’t do the same for her.
I just don’t get the message of this episode. Is Bay’s self-esteem that low? Does she…
So this basically summed up my feelings.
I think this move actually is the writers doing the opposite. Bay is an awesome character, but all they show is her doing awesome things and Daphne messing around out and bouncing from dream to dream relationship to relationship. I wish for once they would make Daphne redeemable. If anything this show’s Bay’s bravery and loyalty, it doesn’t mean she has low self esteem. She had a dream, to follow Emmett to LA. She has plenty of confidence, and that’s what makes her sacrifice that much better. Maybe I have too much faith in the writers and just assume they appreciate Bay as much as us because we can see that in her - but I don’t think so. I really think the writing of Daphne is the problem. Maybe this will finally be her chance to learn her lesson and be a better sister.
Q:I was scrolling through your blog and I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who's questioning Daphne's character in the moment. I really like her (actually there is almost no character at this show I don't like) but she was always so smart, helping people, fighting for deaf-rights and seemed to be very grown up but in the moment she's just like a stubborn child, making stupid decisions, hating Regina for like no reason. Do you think her anger at Regina is justified?
Justified, no. But as someone who has never lost a parent, I can only imagine and assume I would also want to find someone to blame. The only issue is, with the finale, they have made Daphne even MORE unlikable yet again. I won’t go into too much detail in case you haven’t seen it yet.
